Ed Swoboda's love for minerals started when he was a little kid and, at 94 years, he's still going strong.  He was the owner of the Pala Chief Mine, Stewart Lithia Mine and the world-famous Tourmaline Queen Mine - which he still owns. In 1971 he, and partner Bill Larson, uncovered the blue cap tourmaline pocket at the Queen Mine which made, and continues to make, mineral history.

Notoriously shy, this pioneer and legend of the mineral collecting world has graciously accepted our invitation to come and present a brief overview of his experience and life in, "A Life of Gems & Minerals."  This is sure to be a completely packed presentation so come early and stay late.

Robyn,

My name is Liane Ehrich, and I am covering the Gem and Mineral show for examiner.com

http://www.examiner.com/tucson-gem-mineral-fossil-showcase-in-tucson/tucson-gem-and-mineral-show

Or you can google my name + Tucson Gem and Mineral show to find the article(s).

My familiarity with the show, however is largely fossil centered, with a smattering of specimin minerals thrown in (The first article in the series shows parts of my personal collection)

I know absolutely nothing about gems or jewely - nada. And I was hoping you might be willing to assist me in this. I will, of course link to you.

I have just started writing the gem and mineral pieces, but if you google my name plus Tucson pet health or outdoor recreation, you will see that I have been writing for some time, and I have a pretty loyal following at this time.

I thank you in advance for any assistance.
